How to Repair Damaged Hair

How to Repair Damaged Hair

So it’s done, for whatever reason your shining tresses, those locks you once prided upon, have lost their allure, dulled out, drying faster than a pond in a desert and splitting faster than a newly divorced couple, the question is now raised to you, do I give up? Let time take its devastating toll on one what was once an imperative part of your personality?

If you answered no on both of those questions, read on.

For as long as humankind has valued beauty, hair care has played a vital role in it, society has very well ingrained in our minds that once a person’s hair starts thinning out, they’re past their prime, a relic of the past, ready to be discarded, replaced. The truth couldn’t be harsher than this, and although men might suffer from this dilemma on an equal footing to women, one cannot deny that the social effect felt to the latter is far worse than the former, tenfold in some situations.

Below are some ways I’ve compiled for you to fight back and arm yourself against this enemy:

• The Trim:

I know this is the last thing you want to hear right now, this might be the very thing you’re trying to avoid by reading this, but hear me out, the toughest of decisions might be the ones that produce the best results, if any at all, so give those split ends a trim, you don’t have to go for a full super cut, just the ends, and if you do decide to go full commando, well, you might want to try out these other remedies before doing anything drastic.

• Avoid the hot fix:

The blow dryer and curling irons are often referred as a woman’s dual swords, but they’re a double edged sword, for every time your favorite blow dryer and curling iron have raced against time to get you ready for that fabulous party with your friends. For every second they’ve shaved off your preparation time, they’ve done so at a hefty cost, and for some, it might be too much to gamble now, so consider retiring these weapons of mass preparations, or lessen them to a considerable amount.

• Say NO to color… for now:

Genetics are unfair, we’ve all been there, we all wanted that perfect looking hair and somehow it’s just not possible without our favorite colored dye, we didn’t choose our hair color to be this way, it’s just how it is, so when someone tends to advise you against your own perfection goals, you tend to ignore them, especially if it’s just a seemingly harmless bottle away, but these devils have done an equal amount of harm to your locks as they’ve helped them. If not more. So hold off for now.

• Spare no expense:

If you’re willing to go that extra mile and bring out the big guns, some hair repair products are no short of miracles, but where to start, these companies are more …

How to Plan For a Surprise Picnic Party

How to Plan For a Surprise Picnic Party

Planning a surprise party could be really challenging but setting up a surprise picnic party would be even more taxing since the activity will be held outdoors. No dimming of lights, no doors, and definitely no tables and rooms to hide yourself and the guests into. But a surprise picnic party would be a success if everything has been planned and taken cared of.

First, you need to make sure that the celebrant is appreciative of surprises and is willing to be caught off guard. Next, a date and venue should be selected. Ensure that the celebrant is available on the selected date and the venue is accessible to most visitors. Assign someone to invite the celebrant or plan a fake engagement so that the guest of honor would really be able to attend the surprise party.

Prepare the invitations and ensure that you give a clear instruction that the picnic party is a surprise. Indicate at least a 20-minute earlier meeting time so that the party guests will arrive earlier than the guest of honor. Designate a dress code so visitors would arrive in the perfect attire, especially because the party will be held outdoors and in the form of a picnic.

Arrive early and set-up the picnic area. Lay picnic sheets and prepare the food table, the barbeque grill, utensils and food. If you can decorate the trees with ribbons or lights, then it would be better. But since it will be an outdoor party, focus more on the food and activities rather than the décor and overall ambiance. The outdoor venue already has its natural beauty so you can altogether skip the decorating.

It is very important that you pack your picnic baskets with lots of food. You can share food too by asking the visitors to bring even a small basket of fruits. It is also important that you pack your picnic baskets with all the picnic essentials. Because you will be hosting a party for quite a large group, ensure that you do not forget to bring the food, utensils, cooking and cleaning materials, and the things you’ll need for the games. This ensures that everyone will have fun and the guest of honor and his or her visitors will enjoy the party.…

The Difference Between A Model And A Beauty Queen

The Difference Between A Model And A Beauty Queen

There is a huge difference between beauty pageants and modelling. Pageant kids are brought up believing that the spotlight is all about them; how they look, what they can do and how they come across as an individual. They are taught to sell themselves. Unfortunately, in the real fashion world, it is all about the product and selling the product. Although fashion and runway models do need to have specific aesthetic qualities and certain skills, their main purpose is to make a product look good, excite the customer and make them want to buy.

Pageant mums are known for being extremely competitive. They all want to be at the top of the game, knowing the most about the industry, winning the most titles and crowns and having the most beautiful, talented, world-peace loving child in the whole entire world. But what these mums don’t realise is that they are selling their children false hope when they promise them that, one day, all of the late rehearsals, dance classes, American history lessons and hair tugging will be worth it. This is not the case. So many young pageant princesses dreams are crushed when they discover that all those years of intense training; skipping rhythmically down the runway, smiling all teeth bared and cutely flipping their hair as they wink and flirt with the audience, has actually moulded them into exactly what a fashion agency is not looking for in a high-fashion model.

A huge amount of time, effort and money is put into beauty pageants. A lot of pageant mums will hire pageant coaches and dance coaches, both at a great cost. They will then spend a fortune on outfits for each of the different rounds. Elaborate, custom-made ball gowns, one of a kind swimwear pieces, costumes, props and stage fixtures for the talent show, crowning gowns etc. Then there’s the foot high, 30 inch long hair pieces, custom moulded dental flippers to hide any baby/imperfect teeth, copious pairs of diamond encrusted shoes, fake lashes, jar after jar and tube after tube of bright pink blusher, thick stage foundation, lipstick and glitter. All of this is used to enhance the pageant princess’ features, body and overall image and make them look as un-lifelike as possible, all in the hope of being crowned Queen of Pageant.

Fashion designers will also invest an enormous amount of time, effort and money into a fashion show for their clothing. This money will be spent on lighting, sound engineers, stage support, models, stylists and hair and make-up artists, all geared towards ensuring that their clothes attract the audience of buyers and celebrities.

Unlike pageant girls, runway models do not try to steal the show. The point of a fashion show is to sell clothes, not people. If the model blew kisses, danced around the stage like a fairy, distracting the audience and did not make the dress look good, the designer would not sell their clothes and therefore not have a business. This is why pageant …

How to Build Your Own Home – Lesson 3 – Your Plans – Draftsman/ Designer Vs Architect

How to Build Your Own Home – Lesson 3 – Your Plans – Draftsman/ Designer Vs Architect

1. The Draftsman/Designer

Draftsman/Designer’s have expertise with design of interiors, carpeting, furniture, paint, etc., in actuality; draftsmen follow the directions of an architect, engineer or designer to make (vs. create) the plans. They are not licensed, as an architect is, to stamp plans in order to receive city building permits – More on this later.

If you choose to hire a draftsman/designer, be sure to find one that has a good working knowledge of building. I knew a draftsman/designer that designed beautiful country homes but you could tell this designer was relatively new to the industry because some of her designs could not be built the way they were drawn. This is because designers often do not understand how the construction process works. This is a key difference between draftsman/designers and architects. Choose someone that has had experience creating drawings that have been successfully built from by homebuilders, and who comes highly recommended.

Another source for a qualified draftsman/designer is the American Institute of Building Design. You can locate member in your area by visiting their web site. If you see a home that you like, check with the owner to see if they know who designed it. If the home is fairly new, you could go to the building department and possibly see the plans on file, you can acquire the name of the designer from those plans.

2. The Architect

Architects have expertise in design but are especially helpful because of their knowledge of technology and structural aspects of how to put together a building. He or she has gone to school a long time and are licensed professionals who are qualified to offer clients a wide range of services. Working with an architect can give you someone to lean on from start to finish. He/she can help you with your site and landscape plans. He/she can help you select colors, furnishings, etc. as well. The architect can offer several other valuable services to help your construction plan go smoothly. For example, he/she can visit the site, monitoring and observing construction. The architect can be a valuable asset in reviewing contracts and helping you ultimately select a reputable contractor or subcontractor.

Another service the architect can provide is to walk through your plans with the city/county to expedite getting the necessary permits.

Keep in mind that an architect’s fees are going to be higher than those of a draftsman/designer, which makes sense considering all of the additional services and safeguards that you’ll get the benefit of. A good architect can charge anywhere from 7% to 10% of the final cost, or more. Fees may be negotiable, though. For example, I hire very qualified architects in the Atlanta area for less than a third of those figures, which, by the way, is a very cheap price to pay for someone that qualified to create your house, plans and see the job through to completion.

As always, when hiring someone, it is best to discuss the exact services …

Beauty Salon Business Forms

Beauty Salon Business Forms

Every beauty salon has its own business forms for neat functioning. Beauty salon business forms can be computer forms or manual forms, which are used in sales or services.

Common manual forms include invoices, receipts, estimates, statements, human resource materials, credit memos, packing lists, shipping and export forms, timecards, and warehouse/receiving forms. Computer forms may be invoices, statements, proposals, bills, purchase orders, and estimates. Automotive, transmittal, appraisal, work orders, service/repair orders, and service books/register forms are the normal manual service forms. And the manual sales forms are for proposals, contracts, memos, sales books, collections, sales orders, register forms, and sales slips.

The invoices can be in different styles and varieties and can change according to the owner’s choice. However, certain standards must be followed by each beauty salon holder in preparing an invoice. Since a beauty salon is also a place where a person can hire or purchase any beauty product, there are separate purchase order forms. After the purchase, the bills for lading are also given to the customer. The estimate form provides the pricelist of each product in the shop, which helps a customer to choose the appropriate products according to his budget.

A sales book is an important business form in all beauty salons. The sales book contains all information regarding the sale of a particular product, including the product number, quantity, unit price, total price, date of purchase, and more. A sales book can be used as an invoice and receipt so that the sales person can take theses items wherever they are going to sell their products.

Appraisal forms for the service persons, work orders for the business, and details about the service/repair orders all constitute business forms. Business forms also include gift certificates and tax forms. Other types of forms are legal forms and business documents. Professional-looking business forms such as brochures give a detailed idea about the company and its merits.…

I Lost My Cat! What Should I Do?

I Lost My Cat! What Should I Do?

Thousands of pets get lost every day. This is why 49% of all cats are kept indoors. You can triple their life span and have a better bond with them by keeping them indoors. I know they are natural hunters, but that was in the beginning when we did not live in cities where danger triples at every turn. This is why I advocate that you keep your cats indoors.

Make sure your pet has a collar and tag. Put the words Reward, I’m lost, Indoor only, call my human on the tag along with the phone number. This way if anyone finds him they will know how to contact you.

STEP 1

Calm down! Stop assigning blame and take a deep breath. You are going to need all your wits about you to follow the steps to be reunited with your companion.

STEP 2

Check your house from top to bottom. Attics, crawl spaces, cupboards, closets, garages, drawers and basements. I have had hundreds of calls from panicked humans who can’t find their beloved Fluffy only to discover that he struts out of the back of the kitchen cupboard the next day. Be methodical and calm.

Remember, animals can pick up on your energy. If you are frantic he will be frightened to come out because of all the commotion. If he is the only pet put down bowls of food in the middle of each room and sees if they get eaten. This is a definite sign that your fur angel is still somewhere inside your house.

STEP 3

If your baby is outside it’s time to start the search. Sweat as much as possible and grab a blanket or towel that has your smell on it. When you walk around the neighborhood with an open can of tuna you should be an olfactory beacon for your cat. The sweat on your clothing, the blanket or towel and the tuna is an irresistible combination.

When you walk around make sure to call the kitty in a soft, loving, normal tone. Use a nickname if he has one. If you see him and he does not come to you, sit on the ground and put the tuna in front of you to coax him.

Keep calling him, be patient. After a cat has been out of his environment for a while he can go feral (survival mode) and may have trouble recognizing his human. Once he gets close enough, reach out slowly and wrap him in the blanket and towel and take him home. Remember, the tone of your voice should be sweet and enticing.

STEP 4

Call the Humane Society and inform them about your lost pet. Rent a humane trap and place it by the door where your pet got out. Cover the trap with clothing that has a familiar scent and put his favorite food in it. You might catch some other babies, so know how to release them from the trap.

STEP 5

Getting the …

Commercial Print Modeling Vs Editorial Print Modeling

Commercial Print Modeling Vs Editorial Print Modeling

When you think or hear of the word “commercial” in regards to the modeling industry, there are a few variations of the meaning, but in the most practical form regarding “print” photography think of the word “promote”. The model’s job is to be photographed “promoting” a product or service in a print ad (for example… in magazines, brochures, newspapers, catalogues, etc.). There are numerous opportunities for COMMERCIAL PRINT MODELS that exist all over the United States and internationally. The ad may range from the smallest business promoting its’ livelihood all the way to large corporations who can afford their own advertising agencies to handle marketing campaigns.

Commercial Print Modeling is very different from Editorial Print Modeling. Remember that an “editorial” is a magazine fashion “story” of the trend that is happening at that particular moment, not a specific advertisement for any one company, even though you will see multiple credits cited in small print of the stores and designers of the featured garments and accessories. Some ads that you may see in magazines may be elaborately spread out and photographed in an “editorial-style”, but it is ultimately a “commercial” ad if it is promoting one company name. It makes a nifty, high fashion looking ad, though, because that is the style ad that they are marketing to their specific consumers.

Usually, though, the editorial model and their style of modeling don’t represent the particular looks that can be marketed to a large group of average, “every-day” consumers (a.k.a. the people who buy). Consumers buy from ads that they can relate to or strive to achieve. This is where a commercial model may have a wonderful chance of success because their image is a part of the marketing process that sells to the consumer. They represent a highly approachable and marketable look. So, for whatever product they are promoting their look can vary dependent upon what product or service is being advertised to the consumer. That means the door is open to many different types and sizes of models. Take note, that there are actually some editorial fashion models that are able to cross over from editorial modeling into the diverse commercial advertising side. That’s so ideal for a career model who wants longevity. The commercial model doesn’t usually have just one look even though there may be one special look that gets them hired over and over.

This is where the terminology variations form and can cause confusion to whether a model is considered an editorial-type or commercial-type of model. Remember the prestige title? It’s placed on editorial models, but there is something wonderful to be said for being a successful working commercial model, too. “Commercial” is a term that the general public thinks of as ads that they see on television or hear on the radio. The terminology used by an advertising agency versus a modeling agency when referring to “commercial” has different degrees of meanings, too, depending on how they interpret the booking.

Being in a television commercial …

Pearls have been the most popular accessories with bridal wear historically and still continue to be a strong favorite today. The innocence and beauty symbolized by the pearl is also symbolized by the bride, so the match is perfect. The Poetry of John Keats – A Celebration of Beauty, Classicism and Romantic Richness

The Poetry of John Keats – A Celebration of Beauty, Classicism and Romantic Richness

Being an ardent lover of poetry, to be more specific, romantic poetry, I have always been fascinated with the sense of oneness I feel with the poets’ world. Romantic poetry, for some of its major attributes like pictorial quality, imagery, mysticism, absorption in the beauty and life of nature, classical features and above all, celebration of beauty and aestheticism—has a huge amount of appeal to the highly refined and sophisticated readers of all times. And surprisingly, it is this pictorial quality, sensuous delight in nature, sheer artistic beauty and richness of imagery unfolded by romantic poets that continue to inspire us in some way even after so many years!

When we come to think of the Romantic poets, the name John Keats, the finest flower of the Romantic Movement-comes foremost on our minds. Deeply revered as one of the greatest word-painters in English poetry, his verses present subtle imagery and a fusion of different sensations that has time and again, produced musical effects, and in that, he was rather a conscious artist.

The age of Keats and the literary influence on Keats:

The Romantic era, as history says, was the time when almost the whole of Europe was intensely shaken by the ideas and ideologies of the French Revolution. Major poets of that period were greatly inspired by the personal and political liberty of the revolution, breaking the bonds of the artistic conventions of the 18th century. Those were the times when these ideas and ideals “awaked the youthful passion of Wordsworth, of Coleridge”, “stirred the wrath of Scott” and “worked like yeast on Byron”… However, Keats was distinguished from his contemporary poets and literary figures in the fact that the excitement and the turmoil that gathered round the revolution was not directly represented in his poetry. Thus saying, it is worth mentioning that some portions of ‘Hyperion’, ‘Fall of Hyperion’, and ‘Endymion’ do bear testimony to that fact that Keats was influenced by the political turmoil – but it’s definitely not as pronounced as the works of Wordsworth, Coleridge, or Shelley. His poetry, on the other hand, was an embodiment of his vision of beauty that he sees everywhere in nature, in art, in human deeds of chivalry and in the fascinating tales of ancient Greece. This in fact, was the profoundest and the most innermost experience of Keats’ soul, which he expresses most emphatically in his ‘Ode on a Grecian Urn’:

“Beauty is Truth, Truth Beauty’, that is all/ Ye know on earth, and all ye need to know.”

Tracing his poetic growth, researchers have found out that he was educated almost exclusively by the English poets. While in the early part of his career, the influence of Edmund Spenser, specially his ‘Faerie Queene’, was instrumental in awakening his imaginative genius; the brooding love of sensuous beauty, the luxuriance of fancy and the response to the charm of nature characteristic of Spenser’s poems were to be re-echoed in Keats’ poems. In the later years, critics have cited the …
