5 Facts About Ovarian Cancer You Must Know!

5 Facts About Ovarian Cancer You Must Know!

Ovarian cancer is claiming the lives of millions of women all over the world, even in countries that are stereotyped to be the leaders in medical technology. In fact, it is actually the lack of medical technology that is resulting in so many ovarian cancer deaths, since there are no screening methods that can officially detect the disease. And yet, they can still help a woman save her life, if she knows when she should get the screening. If you need help in making such a determination, read on as this article will provide 5 chunks of information about ovarian cancer you must know.

1. Fact 1: It Can Take Years Before Ovarian Cancer Develops Symptoms

The first fact of the 5 chunks of information about ovarian cancer you must know is concerning how the symptoms of the disease develop. Basically, you can have the tumors growing inside you for a very long time and not have any idea that you have ovarian cancer. And when the symptoms start, it can mean the cancer has gotten to a point where it’s not easily treated.

2. Fact 2: If Ovarian Cancer is Caught in its Early Stages, it has a 90 Percent Survival Rate

The second fact of the 5 chunks of information about ovarian cancer you must know is concerning the survival rate if the cancer is caught early. It can be as high as 90 percent. Yet, only 25 percent of women are able to catch the disease in these stages. Why is this so? Well, women who are at higher risk of ovarian cancer tend to get screening at the very moment something seems wrong with their bodies, (sometimes even earlier). You can be in this category mainly if you have a history of the disease in your family. When you get your gynecological exams, press your doctor for ovarian cancer screening. Be careful if you do this and you are not in the high risk category, since unfortunately ovarian cancer screening does carry a high rate of misdiagnoses, (which is why it isn’t encouraged for the general population).

3. Fact 3: Breastfeeding and Having Babies Lowers Your Chances of Getting Ovarian Cancer

The third fact of the 5 chunks of information about ovarian cancer you must know concerns childbirth and breastfeeding. Having your first baby in your 20s along with breastfeeding significantly decreases your chances of having ovarian cancer. However, you do not have this advantage if you had your first baby in your teens or if you have a baby after 35.

4. Fact 4: Taking Birth Control Lowers Your Ovarian Cancer Risk

The fourth fact of the 5 chunks of information about ovarian cancer you must know concerns birth control. It is believed that birth control is effective at helping to prevent ovarian cancer because it lowers a woman’s estrogen level, which is believed to be a factor for the disease. Be careful, though since some women may not be able to take birth control …

Multimedia Approach For Sustainable Knowledge Delivery

Multimedia Approach For Sustainable Knowledge Delivery

'Multimedia' is the word used to describe the combination of different digital media like text, graphics, photographs, animation clips, video, voice, and music and sound effects. The benefits of multimedia methods of information delivery are anonymous. People have both visual (sight) and auditory (sound) capabilities for processing information, and multimedia products take advantage of both to convey information and knowledge in an effective manner. Materials produced using a combination of these media are generally more attractive and easy to follow than single medium products. They enable complex ideas and procedures to be presented in a simplified way, and allow the projection of more complete and rounded concepts and models. The potential benefits of 'good practices' can be shown visually and illustrated with step-by step instructions that can be followed even by those with poor literacy skills. Multimedia products are more effective in delivering messages and lead to better learning and retention. As they are electronic, they can be reproduced and used to deliver information and knowledge consistently and economically to different locations and interests, with a flexible schedule, regardless of the availability of qualified teaching or extension staff.

An important complementary approach that can be used to link with and enrich multimedia products is the use of 'alternative media'. Alternative media in the sense used here refer to traditional ways of communicating from person to person and community to community like songs, dance, storytelling, poetry, street theater, drama, and puppet plays. These methods have been used over centuries to convey information and knowledge from one community to another and one generation to the next. They entertain and are familiar, and can be especially successful in reaching a broad range of people and and more remote communities. The 'products' can be developed locally to suit local needs, but they usually only reach a small audience. However, by capturing the plays, songs and other products electronically – on film, on tape, in photos – and including them in a multimedia product, they can be shared far more broadly and used to enrich the multimedia product itself.

The multimedia approach itself is 'hi-tech', but can be made very user friendly with the right equipment and software. Even inexperienced local NGOs can develop useful multimedia products for themselves with only a small amount of training. These local products – on anything from agriculture and livestock, through health problems and sanitation, to eco-tourism, gender and equity – can be collected centrally to provide a pool of resources for use in telecentres, schools, colleges and other community learning / Information centers. This is the approach that IMCO is starting to develop. Read more on this Shared Knowledge of Issue 14 – Click here . …

Attire to Get Hired – Summer 2009

Attire to Get Hired – Summer 2009

Spring and summer brings to mind images of love, vacations, walks on the beach and evenings by the pool. But you need to get a job in an office. Or you already have a job and you want to move up the ladder of success. What to wear? Contrary to the popular myth, unless you are in a glamor or very artistic industry there is no such thing as summer work casual. You can, though, fine tune your attire for the summer season though. Here are a few ideas.

Shirts

First, unless you are a pediatrician, a chemist or a barber – ban short sleeve shirts from your spring and Summer wardrobe. Long sleeves are the only acceptable style. A variety of fabrics and colors are acceptable. Pure cotton shirts are best (I prefer pima cotton but oxford cloth and poplin are popular too). Polyester can get warm. The collar is more a function of formality and style. English spread collar is the most formal. The American straight collar in the next most formal. The button-down collar is the least formal. Tab and collar pin styles are traditional but on again – off again styles. As for colors – white and pale blue are best. A fine mute blue or gray stripe is next best. Pale yellow and pink are best left to preppy outfits such as law firms and white shoe Wall Street enclaves. French cuffs are best left to the more senior executives and the power brokers.

Ties

Every spring men put on a whole rain forest of bright splashy ties. Avoid the trend. Go with small patterns (neat diamonds or circles) or regularly spaced wide stripes (regimental or old school) in natural colors. While darker colors are more popular in fall and winter, spring and summer open the door to: yellows, purples, reds (vs. burgundy), sky blue (vs. navy) and salmon or pink. Big tropical prints, words, graphics or pictures (with the horsy exception of very small snaffles or stirrups) and heavy fabrics are OUT for spring and summer. Think light weight silk and cotton madras vs. Wools and heavy drapery fabric silk. Now that MSNBC's Tucker Carlson has shunned bow ties – as have the leadership of Nation of Islam – perhaps you should take a wait and see attitude on the classic too.

Suits

The cut for spring and summer suits are the same as for fall and winter suits. The wools should be lighter weight. The colors are the same: medium gray, gray pinstripe, navy blue and blue chalk stripe. Stay away from plaids and more fancy stripes unless you have at least six basic suits in the combinations noted above. The suits should be either two or three button depending on your build. Trousers can be either pleated or flat front depending on build but must be properly hemmed with cuffs. No spring or summer vests. Cotton suits of tan, olive and navy are acceptable once you are in the work force. The …

My Opinion About Life

My Opinion About Life

A famous philosopher once said,

“Life is too deep for words,

So don’t try to describe it,

Just Live It.”

I agree to his opinion. Life is not such a sort of word which can be described in alphabets. It needs volumes and volumes to explain Life. Many Philosophers, Scholars and Literary Personalities have tried their level best to define life. Some say life is like fire, some say it’s like an ice-cream. A very famous Greek Philosopher Hericulates says,

“Life is the name of war,

This war makes a common man,

a King or a Slave.”

Similarly, Carl Sandburg says,

“Life is like an onion:

You peel it off one layer at a time,

and sometimes you weep.”

So, this was a brief glimpse to the views of some great people about life.

Now I would like to introduce you with my own opinion and idea about life.

Life is like a blend of different shades and colors. It has a lot of faces. We can’t have a single opinion about it. If we look at it from one point of view or observe its face from one side, it appears to us very pleasant and enjoyable. But at the same time, its opposite side is very ugly and sad. I take these different shades of life similar to the four seasons of year i-e. Spring, Summer, Winter and Autumn and divide the life span of a person in four periods.

The Spring, which is a very life giving season, is actually the Childhood period of men’s life. About spring someone has said,

“Spring unlocks the laughing

beauty of Nature.”

The childhood of a person is very innocent, without any sort of worries and tensions and hence it is very bright and is, therefore, the Spring of Life.

The Summer, although with its blazing warmth and scorching heat still gives vigor and zeal to life. The teenage duration is also very adventurous and one uses all his abilities either in the right or wrong direction. In other words, it is very enthusiastic period of life.

Next one is Winter season which due to its coldness brings fadedness to one’s life. The duration of life aging from 30’s to the boundary of old age is a natural period in which the charms of life began to vanish. But still in this period of age, a little struggle and enthusiasm remains the companion of an individual.

Autumn season which is a symbol of gloominess and sadness is the representative of late old age of a person when he just passes his days of life like a flickering flame of candle which is on the mercy of blowing winds. All his emotions turn cold and silently wait for the closing of his chapter of life and thinks keenly on this point that

“Our lives are like a candle in the wind.”

So, this was all which I have experienced yet about life. My opinion about life, either it is right or wrong, …

Dahi Ki Kadhi, Memon Style

Dahi Ki Kadhi, Memon Style

Dahi ki Kadhi, or Dahi ki Curry, is a typical Pakistani and Indian dish that is very simple to make. The main ingredient is yogurt, and it is typically eaten as a soup, or served on top of rice. There are many styles of this curry: Gujrati style, Hyderabadi, and even in North Pakistan, the curry is made with yogurt plus extra ingredients like tomato and some spinach. Here is a family recipe for the curry made very simply. If you have made this before, you will notice the difference in the recipe. The main difference is that there is no ginger laung (cloves).

For the recipe, first take about 500 grams of yogurt. To the yogurt, you need to add three or four tablespoons of besan. Besan is ground chickpea flour and will be available at an Indian or Pakistani grocery store. Then you want to add one half teaspoon haldi to this mixture. Haldi is the name for turmeric, a yellow spice. Do not add to much turmeric otherwise the flavor may become a bit bitter.

Salt can be added to taste, perhaps a bit more than 1/2 teaspoon. Finally, you want to add three or four teaspoons of sugar. Once all of this has been put together, add around two or three cups of water and mix. You can use a blender or whisker here. The key is to get rid of all the lumps of yogurt and besan. Put this mixture aside.

The next step is to create the bagar. The bagar is a mixture of heated oil and spices. In the container which you want to cook, add a few tablespoons of oil, and then add cumin, mustard seeds, and curry leaves. In Urdu, the words will be zeera, methi rai, and kadhi patta. Heat up the pan, and once it is simmering add some chopped garlic and chopped green chillies, and after a minute or so, add the yogurt mixture. Keep stirring this mixture for around five minutes until it comes to a boil. It should thick. You can add a bit of besan at the end to thicken the mixture up.

This is an extremely simple recipe for dahi ki kadhi and one that has been around a long time.…

Everything You Want To Know About The Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected Vehicle

Everything You Want To Know About The Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected Vehicle

Today, there are plenty of military combat vehicles. All of them have their own specific purpose. One of these is the mine-resistant ambush protected or MRAP vehicle. This is believed to be among the most reliable vehicles for troop survival.

MRAP Vehicle – What Is Special About It?

As its name implies, this vehicle is resistant to personnel and anti-tank mines. It does not just withstand those explosive; rather, it also provides excellent survivability for passengers. In fact, it can outperform the 70-ton M-1 main battle tank and the Humvee. Based on the defence specialists, the casualty rate for an MRAP is just 6% in IED blasts as compared to the 15% and 22% for the M-1 Abrams and the Humvee. With this vehicle, soldiers certainly feel safest.

Protecting troops is the main function of this vehicle. The previous models must be improved to maximize its capacity. But this model has design limitations like the lack of protection for air tanks. Apart from that, military groups requested that MRAP vehicles must be fast and more efficient on non-paved roads so it can be a lot easier to manoeuvre.

Another problem associated with the earlier models is providing training for its extensive utility. There are some manufacturers years ago that made training and maintenance a complicated process for users wherein only the field service representatives can do maintenance tasks. As for the training, only an elite few make use of an established program so they can fully educate users on all the vehicle’s capabilities. They also teach users on how to properly operate the features of this vehicle to guarantee long functional lifespan.

Indeed, the leading manufacturers of MRAPs are doing more. They are continuously taking steps to further make it the best in its class. They have obtained ideas from the perceived limitations of older manufacturers and designed training programs for the target users of the said vehicle. The training program is not just established to guarantee proper use but also to make sure that its operators are convenient. Be reminded though that these manufacturers aren’t stopping with training; rather, they came up with a long-term strategy for support through the entire functional lifespan of the vehicle.

Expect that the MRAP vehicle will undergo continuous improvements in the coming years. With more innovative concepts and better technology, the industry strongly believes that the MRAP vehicle will be transformed into a reliable combat vehicle.…

What Valentine's Day is About

What Valentine's Day is About

The origin of Valentine's Day is somewhat obscure, but is a holiday dating back to the Middle Ages having its connections to early Catholic saints. Some of us have fond memories associated with this now very popular holiday, and others have memories that would like to forget. Regardless, it's a day set to demonstrate love and affection for the ones we adore. While the day is valuable and fun to celebrate for many, all of us could benefit by putting additional effort into the other 364 days of the year!

By focusing on loving your partner on a daily basis, your relationship has a much better chance of being healthy and vibrant. Below is a sampling of what you can do on Valentine's Day – and every day – to show your partner you care. Compliment one another. Take time to make note of the small – and big – things you appreciate about your partner. Too often, we focus on the negative. Take interest in your partner. This means asking about their day and what is important to your significant other even if it does not seem all that important to you! Your partner will feel more cared about and valued. Plan an outing.

This can be a fun and inexpensive way to introduce change and spontaneity into the relationship. A hike? Bicycle ride? Day at the river? A picnic? Skydiving? Give surprises. A great way to show your partner you care and help them feel loved and appreciated is through small but powerful gestures. A note in the lunchbox, notes on the 'fridge, a card for no special reason, flowers, a homemade dinner, a cleaned up house, a candle lit bath, a massage … anything from the heart you think your partner will enjoy ! Dance with your partner. When is the last time you turned the lights down and danced in your own living room? Have a regular date night. It's crucial to focus on the positive, but just as important to rid your relationship of the communication and behavioral dynamics that foster distance, resentment, and hurt. Here are a few. This can add up quickly and a lot of damage can take place in one reckless argument. Do not focus on what you feel your partner did wrong. Instead, verbalize what you feel and what you want from them. More often than not, an individual makes the issue about the other …

Key West Bars Are Perfect For Dating Gorgeous Women

Key West Bars Are Perfect For Dating Gorgeous Women

The Key West bars are some of the best places to meet hot women and have a total blast! Whether you live in Key West or you’re visiting Key West, you know this is the perfect place to meet people and get entertained into the night.

Thousands of people from all over the world love visiting Key West as a great vacation spot. I myself like the restaurants and the bars. If you’re a guy and you’re looking to pick up a woman here, do you want to make sure that you have studied a solid dating manual. A dating manual will help you engage in conversations with beautiful women, that may lead to much more!

Here are some of my favorite bars, the Hog’s Breath Saloon (with a name like this what’s not to like?), Pat Croce’s Rum Barrel, Rick’s/Durty Harry’s Entertainment, Sloppy Joe’s and the Schooner Wharf Bar! You might have to do some bar hopping to find the kind of woman you’re looking for, but you will find someone or something!

The hardest part for most men is the fear of rejection and having to walk up to a beautiful woman and introduce yourself. There is nothing wrong with walking up to a woman and being rejected, but it’s even better if you know how to read a woman’s body language. Reading a woman’s body language saves me the time of walking up to a woman and her not being interested.

Some women are out just to hang with her girlfriends and they are not interested in meeting a guy. This does happen and if you cannot read the signs or a woman’s body gestures properly, you will not only be embarrassing yourself, but you will be wasting your time. Watching a woman’s feet and eyelids will often reveal her moods and motives.

I enjoy being an expert at reading body language, mainly because I can find so many women that are open, within a shorter amount of time. I have noticed at just what every bar I go to hundreds of men who have no idea how to read a woman’s body language. Most guys don’t even know how to go up and talk to a woman and gain her interest.

It’s one thing if he does want to go out and have some drinks with you guys, but if you really want to hook up with a beautiful woman in a Key West bar, then you had better be prepared with a dating game plan strategy, that will make you the next James Bond (007)! I have seen some guys, that know how to talk to the ladies and get phone numbers, but it’s very rare.

Most guys seem to think that they can easily pick up a woman without educating themselves in the dating game. If you do not know how to converse with three women at the same time, you will be struggling and your nervousness will show, but it does not have …
