Eliminate Interior Home Disasters

Eliminate Interior Home Disasters

Hello and welcome to my design thoughts.

With thousands of websites, articles, newsletters and blogs on interior design, is it any wonder home design is confusing? As an artist and designer, it never ceases to amaze me the amount of fabulous information available for the curious and motivated homeowner. And Free to boot!

Keeping it simple is a little more difficult. I have visited many "designers" client homes, just to see the designers particular brand or style stamped all over the place. How do we keep our homes in the realm of our own personalities?

When you are searching for a design and or designer, first look at their product. Talk to past clients. Visualize the designers work in your private space. Does it work? Or could you have done a better job on your own and a whole lot less expensive?

I have designed many different styles. Each as individual as the client themselves. How is this done? First, you have to do the homework. A client who states: Do whatever you like, I trust you and I will be back from Bermuda in six weeks "might be a client I may choose to steer clear of.

I will not brand my personal style on a clients home. Your home should and must reflect your personality and uniqueness. With excitement and motivation, create something totally yours, you can learn how to build a really stunning environment all your own.

Magazines, websites other design information can be your very best friend. You have done it before, I just can see both of us searching magazines, ripping out the cool stuff and making piles … This is your start to discovering your personal style.

Build a book on these pictures. Study each picture. Circle the idea or picture which done your eye. Put you piles of pictures in categories. Ie living, bath, family, kitchen. Then go back and cull out the pictures which may not be as appealing. Only keep the very best. You will ever discover what you love, whether in color, shape, size or style name. My personal style is called European Recycled … No joke.

Keep your first trial and run simple. Paint is the least expensive re-do and has an amazing impact. A fresh coat of paint is magic. Interior design can be a simple act of re-arranging or de-cluttering.

Find your magic. Love where you live. Make it a peaceful and creative environment all your own.

What's New in Drupal 8 for Clients and End Users?

What's New in Drupal 8 for Clients and End Users?

Post the feature freeze of the yet-to-be-launched Drupal 8, there has been a series of speculations. The web arena is abuzz with discussions about how this upgraded version of the Drupal CMS will prove worthwhile in easing up the workload load of the developer fraternity.

Everyone is talking about the array of features that have been introduced in this version to make development a smooth sail for developers. Development features are hogging all the limelight. But there is one thing that everyone is missing out on. This is the impact of the advanced features of this CMS platform on the end users and clients. What lies ahead for the end users once Drupal 8 hits the marketplace? Will they be favored? Will there be anything new found for them? Or will they get the same old school experience as rendered by Drupal 6 and Drupal 7. Well, let's seek an answer.

Proposed Changes in Drupal 8 for Clients and End Users

With the 8th version of Drupal in place, the Drupal community is looking beyond just wooing the development fraternity. It is more focused towards making Drupal a user- oriented platform. Several changes have been proposed in order to enhance the usability of the CMS. Here's an overview of two major propositions- content authoring and mobile device compatibility.

Content Authoring: Drupal has given a push to the usability of its content authoring system for the actual users of the site- the people who view the site long after developers have signed off their task and moved onto another project. The usability team at Drupal has put in a lot of analysis in this space and come up with a series of suggestions to revamp the content authoring system of the CMS. These include rendering users with the ability to save a post as draft separated from the published revision, real preview of content and facelift of the content creation page. Furthermore, Acquia has launched a project named Spark, which focuses on areas like responsive layout design tools, in-line editing, dashboards and a numerous other content-related improvisations.

Mobile Device Compatibility: In the coming three to five years, mobile devices will dramatically micrify the usage of desks. Since this time frame coincides with the development life cycle of Drupal 8, it becomes imperative to make Drupal mobile-ready.

There are three major branch-outs of the mobile initiative, which are listed below:

Mobile-friendly Admin Tools: Default admin tools of the CMS function Absolutely well on desktops and other big screens, but are not that effective on mobile devices. Drupal 8 comes with solutions prototyped for this problem.

Responsive Themes: The default themes will be rendered with responsiveness, making them ready to viewed across various devices including desktops, laptops, mobile phones, tablets, smart phones etc.

Front-end Performance: The back-end performance of a site demands rigorous efforts but technically 80% of a typical request is catered to by the front-end.

Mobile devices have a lower bandwidth and a less powerful processor. Thus, in order to generate …

Types of Bra

Types of Bra

When the bra was first invented I'm sure that the inventor could not begin to imagine that by the 21st century there would be so many bra types available to purchase that it would become quite confusing.

Here are some bra types currently available:

Adhesive – the adhesive bra comes in two types, the paperless disposable bra, and the silicone type. The adhesive bra does not have any straps or bands and it adheres directly to the breast. It provides little in the way of support but can enhance the size and shape of the breast. The adhesive bra is particularly useful when wearing a backless dress.

Bandeau – the bandeau bra consists simply of a band of cloth that goes right around the body over the breast area. The bandeau bra is not designed to provide support or shape, simply coverage. It is a popular form of bikini top.

Balconette – the balconette bra is a 1930's invention that was designed to lift the breasts to enhance shape. It became popular during the 1950's.

Bralette – the bralette is a pullover type bra that is usually unlined and unwired. It is normally used by teens as a training bra.

Bullet – the bullet bra is a bra that has has cups in the shape of the tip of a bullet. They are usually worn such that the breasts are popped out perpendicular to the body. The bullet bra is normally associated with outlandish costumes with decorations to enhance shape, such as concentric circles radiating out from the nipples.

Convertible – the convertible bra has detachable straps and bands that can be arranged in different configurations so that the same bra can be worn with different types of clothes, such as strapless and backless dresses.

Cupless – the cupless bra is designed exactly as it sounds, and has no cups. Usually worn as exotic lingerie, the cupless bra provides very little support, but can sometimes enhance the nipples beneath other garments.

Front Closure – the vast majority of bras have fasteners on the straps worn at the back. As the name suggests, the front closure bra fastens at the front. This has the advantage of making the strap at the back almost flat against the body, making the bra less visible benefit tight fitting clothing.

Full Support – this is the typical kind of bra worn by fuller breasted ladies as every day under garments. They offer maximum support for ultimate comfort through the day.

Mastectomy – these bras are specifically designed to hold in place a breast prosthesis for women who for one reason or another may have lost one or both breasts.

Maternity – maternity bra is a wonderful invention for mothers who are breastfeeding feeding their children. The maternity bra's cups can expand over time to accommodate growing breasts during pregnancy and the cups themselves can be unfastened allowing access to the breast for feeding.

Minimiser – this type of bra is designed for larger women who …

Exquisite Jewellery of Solihull – The History

Exquisite Jewellery of Solihull – The History

Most sources quote the company manufactured jewellery from the sixties to the seventies. However this is untrue. Exquisite jewellery was produced by the company called W A P Watson Ltd. here is the companies time line:

1909 to 1914 – Walter Archibald Parker Watson had a small factory in Hockley Hill, Birmingham manufacturing chains and then gilt jewellery.

1914 W A P Watson sold his company to Augustus Harry Power and Clarence Oswald Flint. They kept the name and subsequently became W A P Watson LTD

1914 to 1934 Following the First World War, Messrs Power and Flint became skilled in producing costume jewellery. The original number of employees was 6 and it was during this time the range of jewellery was named Exquisite.

1934 The company with its 125 employees moved to Hampton Street in the Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter. They also had premises in Mary Street. Now not only producing jewellery but also crested souvenirs.

1937 to 1954 W A P Watson ceased manufacturing jewellery during the Second World War but concentrated on helping the war effort. Following the war, Exquisite jewellery and the souvenirs production continued. But with increased demand and the confined space available in the Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter, the Powers looked for larger premises. Augustus son’s Wallis and Jack had now become the managing directors

1954 to 1977 The company moved in 1954 to Vulcan Road Solihull. Expanded and introduced the Mirella trade name of gold plated picture frames, mirrors, pens and small pill boxes. The name Mirella came from one of their employees. Crystal was introduced into their product manufacturing. At their peak the company produced 20,000 pieces of jewellery under the Exquisite name. Famous for their Birthday and Scottish range – beautifully hand enameled brooches, necklaces and earrings.

1977 The Exquisite Jewellery range was stopped due to the competition of the high import of cheaper jewellery from the East. However the crested souvenir range was expanding as more people were able to take holidays in the UK and abroad. Spoons, bells, letter openers, thimbles were available in all the tourist gift shops across the UK

1977 to 1989 The company had to reduce employees as they struggled to survive the recession and competition. They produced new ranges of Collector’ Keepsakes – thimbles, letter openers and bells. Also leather goods under the name of Manor Leather craft.

1989 to 2000 The Crystal Flame range of silver and gilt animals with a crystal became popular and eventually developed into the Tudor Mint range. The popular Myths and Magic range of medieval figures and characters took off and still is very collectible today

2000 onward The Solihull factory closed in the early 2000’s as the company moved to the USA to expand the Tudor Mint range. In 2007 the company sold this to the Xystos group but still retains a holding company of The Watson Group Limited in Shirley Solihull.

W A P Watson left a large amount of collectible and beautiful jewellery. Many ranges are available …

Drop Shipping Ideas – How Does it Work?

Drop Shipping Ideas – How Does it Work?

Drop shipping is a kind of supply management strategy in which a seller never keep products in stock, rather transfers the order of its customers and places the shipment details to drop shippers, who then pack and ship the products directly to the consumer. Drop shipping technique provides the retailers some profit with the retail and wholesale price difference. Many of the retailers who use drop shipping are keeping a show product, which was displayed in their store, in order for the consumers to see and inspect the goods comparable to those that they plan to purchase. While other retailers only provide a website or catalog.

Retailers who drop ship goods from suppliers can take measures in hiding this fact in order to avoid some stigma, or keeping the wholesale source to become widely known. This will result in blind shipping or shipping the goods without any return address (having the goods shipped from the supplier with a return address personalized to retailer). The wholesaler can as well include the customized packing slip that indicates the retailers contact information, company name and / or logo.

Drop shipping happens when a small store, which usually sells small quantities through the general public, has been provided with a single huge order for an item. Instead of routing the shipment by the retail store, the retail seller may organize for the items to be delivered directly to the consumer.

Below are the sequential steps on how drop shipping works.

1. A consumer may find something to be purchased on the retailer's website.
2. Customer puts his or her order to the site and pays.
3. The retailer will place his customer's order to the wholesale drop shipper.
4. The item will be posted or delivered directly to the retailer's customer.

The two major advantages of drop shipping set up are – no real inventory to buy and has a good cycle of cash flow. A good cycle of cash flow happens since the wholesaler will only be paid after the purchase is done. The seller usually pays the drop shipper through credit terms or credit card. The retailer therefore can have its customer's money while the wholesaler is not yet paid. …

At first, Diesel remained a fairly small and unknown brand, at least on a global scale. It is hard to imagine that seeing as now it is one of the biggest fashion brands in the world, but for over a decade this was how it remained. In fact, the Diesel brand only began to start to get international recognition in the early 1990s.

Design Your Own Shirt And Flaunt Your Creative Side To The World

Design Your Own Shirt And Flaunt Your Creative Side To The World

Buying online is good without you think about customization and personalization benefits. As a buyer, you are still not offered the freedom to design your own product and put your imagination to some use. The scenario seems to be changing, only partly because as designers tools are making their way in the market to change the way we shop. Such tools come packed with advanced features and functionalities to help buyers design their own products, including shirts. In fact, some online stores or web shops are reported to have integrated such kind of a tool to give a sense of unique freedom of their customer base.

If such tools have really entered the market, they will then surely change the rule of the game. They will bring a complete transformation to the way things are sold and bought on the internet. Take for example, having such tools integrated with a website means Buyers need not rely on the available stock at the shopper. Which means, anyone can just visit their favorite shop, use the tool, design their own shirt, make changes in its features and then, send it to final printing or output. The idea behind a designing tool looks fantastic and with full of benefits to buyers.

It seems as if such a tool has been designed keeping in mind the interests of both the parties in the transaction – buyers and sellers. So, if buyers can design their own shirts, then sellers can save money by not having to invest in hoarding up of a stock that nobody would care to buy from. What's more, some of these tools supposedly provide a 360-degree view to buyers while they design their own shirts. A use of 3D technology is expected to come into play with buyers having the freedom to access each and every part of their product for designing purposes.

Let's assume for a minute that such a tool will soon hit the market, how will then buyers approach to shopping? In that case, buyers will love the new-found freedom of buying from only those shirts that they themselves have designed. More so, they will certainly rejoice the opportunity of employing their creative and artistic side to charm and floor the people around. They will have the freedom of adding any color, shape, design, text, clip art and background to beatify the shirt. They will be able to do many chops & changes to their product till they reach the perfect version of it.

It means, a feature-rich shirt designer tool would really be a great addition to the repertoire of buyers if it really made its way in the market. After all, having such a tool means buyers will feel empowered by the choice they have. So, online shops should not delay in finding and integrating a tool that can make shopping a great value addition for buyers. Having such a tool will help businesses a lot and their sales will go up and their revenue will …

10 Top Kids Party Games for an Enjoyable Party

10 Top Kids Party Games for an Enjoyable Party

Are you someone whom finds planning children’s parties a daunting affair? Are you worried about what you are going to do to keep them entertained?

If this sounds like you, then don’t despair as you have certainly not been the first parents to experience this. The good news is, that it doesn’t have to be this way, and there are plenty of EASY and CHEAP ways to keep the kids entertained at your child’s party.

There is a lot to be said about all the traditional kids party games that have been around since our Grandparents generation… and probably longer. These games have withstood the test of time for a reason… because they are good… and they really do work!

Here are 10 kids party games that you can use at your next child’s birthday party. You could pick one or two, or use the entire 10, but one thing is for certain… and that is the children will love them!

Pass the Parcel: All children love opening presents, so what is not to love about this game! Simply find a small present (suitable for both a boy and a girl) and wrap it up. Then have several layers of wrapping around the main present. Inside each wrapping it is ideal to place either another small item (a piece of candy, balloon, pen, spinning top… anything small). This is the small gift for the child to keep that opens that layer.

Sit the children in a circle and play some music. Ask them to pass the parcel around the circle until the music stops. When the music stops, that child can open the layer! For younger children it is recommended that you ensure each child has a chance to open at least one layer.

Pin the tail on the donkey: The traditional way to play this game is to have a donkey and lots of tails that the kids will pin onto the donkey (hence the name). You can however use this game to suit any theme you are having. For instance, Pin Dora’s hair band into her hair or pin the banana into the monkey’s hand. You can buy ready-made kits, or if feeling creative you could draw something yourself. Simply have some blind folds available and each child in turn has the opportunity to pin the tail on the donkey. Blindfold the child and ask them to pin the tail as close to where it should be as possible.

Musical Statues: Are there some budding dancers in the room? Choose some favourite music and simply ask the kids to dance! When they least expect it, turn the music off, and the children have to stand as still as possible. The last to stand still is out! Continue the game until only one child remains a statue.

Musical bumps: This game is played very similar to musical statues, except when the music stops, the children have to immediately sit down on their bottom. The last child to sit down …

Oh Snaps

Oh Snaps

Riding out on the open road is a freeing and exhilarating experience. Riding while wearing a leather motorcycle jacket is peace of mind. Leather is very abrasive resistant, therefore if a rider is thrown from their bike or has to lay their bike down, wearing leather creates a layer between them and the asphalt.

There are different parts to a leather motorcycle jacket, if each of these parts are good quality, this makes for a better riding experience. One part to a jacket is the snaps. Snaps on jackets typically come in silver, brass, antique brass, or brushed silver. They are decorative, as well as functional, keeping pockets closed, and the necklaces on euro motorcycle jackets snapped, and unsnapped on the collar of a classic motorcycle jacket to raise the collar on colder days. A good quality snap holds it's snap, as well as opens easily, and stays functional for the life of the jacket.

When did snaps become part of clothing and who invented them? Snaps first were patented by a German man named Heribert Bauer in 1885, and were called "Federknopf-Verschluss". This fastener was used for men's trousers. When did they start being called "snaps"? It was when Jack Weil patented a new kind of snap that that word came into being. It is good to know who it is we have to thank for theventions that are part of our everyday life. Jack Weil was quite a character. He was the founder and CEO of the Denver based western clothing manufacturer Rockmount Ranch Wear. He is known for saying, "the West is not a place, it is a state of mind". Jack lived to be 107. He claimed to have quit smoking at age 60, drinking at age 90, and eating red meat at age 100. He did a shot of Jack Daniels twice a week for medicinal reasons to keep his Blood thin. Weil is believed to be the oldest working CEO in the United States.

Leather motorcycle jackets are an important part of the riding gear for a biker, really, top of the list a long with a helmet. So the next time you are out on the open road enjoying the freedom of riding, the beautiful scenery and the peace of mind that comes with wearing leather, think of Jack Weil when you snap your collar closed keeping out the chill of the morning ride. …
